Harry’s fighting for all those who have died for him. For his parents, for Sirius, for Dumbledore, and all the other fallen soldiers of the war. He’s going on so that their deaths wouldn’t have been in vain. The past.
Hermione’s fighting to rid evil in the world and make it a better place; so that the generations to come will never experience the pain and struggle she’s, and many like herself, have been through. The future.
Ron’s fighting to protect his friends and family. The people that are counting on his safe return and to “bring honor” to his family’s name. To prove everyone that ever doubted him wrong. The present.
I’m not saying that each person is fighting a definite cause, but it’s really fascinating how that works out.
